BÒRD NA GÀIDHLIG ENCOURAGES PARTICIPATION IN REVIEW OF BBC ALBA
Bòrd na Gàidhlig has today (Wednesday, October 28) urged everyone with an interest in the future of Gaelic broadcasting to take part in the BBC Trust’s review of the BBC Alba television channel which was launched in 2008.

FINAL PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY FOR BT ALBA DEBATE 2009
Final preparations are taking place ahead of the 2009 BT Scotland National Schools Gaelic Debate.  The first two rounds will be held in An Lanntair in Stornoway next week, Tuesday and Wednesday the 3rd and 4th of November 2009.   Pupils from fifteen schools across Scotland will compete in the prestigious competition, with four schools going through to the semi-finals which will be held in the Scottish Storytelling Centre Edinburgh on Tuesday 24th November.  The Final will be held in the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday the 25th of November 2009 and will be broadcast live on BBC Radio nan Gaidheal.

BÒRD NA GÀIDHLIG MEETS IN UIST
Bòrd na Gàidhlig, the principal public body in Scotland responsible for promoting Gaelic development and providing advice to Scottish Ministers on Gaelic issues including education, will hold its Board meeting in Uist for the first time tomorrow (Tuesday, October 20).

BÒRD NA GÀIDHLIG RESTRUCTURING PROCESS MOVES APACE
Bòrd na Gàidhlig, the principal public body promoting and developing Gaelic, will be advertising for a number of new posts next week (beginning 19 October) as its restructuring gathers momentum. An interim senior support team (ISST) was appointed to the Bòrd in June of this year to increase its capacity to implement the National Plan for Gaelic and to supervise planned changes in its structure and operations.

A new bilingual leaflet explaining the success and benefits of Gaelic education in Scotland has been launched at the Royal National Mod in Oban.

BÒRD NA GÀIDHLIG SUPPORTS DVD LAUNCH
A new DVD to support parents and young children who are learning Gaelic has been produced by Argyll & Bute Council with support from Bòrd na Gàidhlig.

COMANN NA GÀIDHLIG TO SUPPORT SHINTY INTERNATIONAL AWARDS
Gaelic development agency Comunn na Gàidhlig, (CnaG) has confirmed that it will once again be supporting the efforts of the Scottish shinty teams in their international series of matches with Ireland at the end of October.

BÒRD NA GÀIDHLIG TO SUPPORT RADIO MOD
Bòrd na Gàidhlig has helped set up Radio Mòd this year to broadcast from the Royal National Mod in Oban. The Mòd opens in Oban tonight (Friday 9 October) and Murdo Morrison and his team will be broadcasting at the event all of Mod week, adding to other broadcast material being offered by the BBC both through television and Radio nan Gàidheal.

COLMCILLE ANNOUNCE SHINTY/HURLING INTERNATIONAL SPONSORSHIP
The Camanachd Association, the governing body of shinty, is delighted to announce a new agreement with Colmcille in support of this year’s Senior Shinty/Hurling International 2009 which takes place on Saturday 31st October at Bught Park, Inverness.
