Colmcille Funding Scheme 2012-13

Background

Colmcille is a partnership between Bòrd na Gàidhlig and Foras na Gaeilge and the two organisations work together to implement the scheme’s priorities in Scotland and Ireland.

Colmcille 2012-13

Bòrd na Gàidhlig is offering organisations based in Scotland the opportunity to bid for funding to help implement the Colmcille priorities.  We would welcome applications for initiatives in support of at least one of the following priorities:

  • Bringing together speakers of Irish Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic.
  • Promoting links between Scottish Gaelic and Irish Gaelic speaking communities.
  • Facilitating use and mutual understanding of Scottish Gaelic and Irish Gaelic at the same event.
  • Raising awareness of Irish Gaelic language and culture in Scotland, and of Scottish Gaelic language and culture in Ireland.
  • Promoting the vitality of Scottish and Irish Gaelic and the links between them, to strengthen one or both languages.
  • Strengthening language skills - of Scottish Gaelic in Ireland or Irish Gaelic in Scotland.

In addition to these priorities, it is essential that a clear link between both Irish Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic is evident in each application.

Colmcille 2012-13 is open for applications for projects which will take place between July 2012 and July 2013.

We anticipate at this stage that there will not be another round of this funding scheme open during the 2012-13 financial year, and that the scheme will not be open for applications again until April 2013.

Foras na Gaeilge also operate a Colmcille funding scheme for Irish based organistions, with the same key priorities.  More information is available from www.colmcille.net and this scheme is open until 18.05.2012.

Closing Date for Applications

Funding applications should be submitted to Bòrd na Gàidhlig as soon as possible but no later than 5pm on Friday 18th May 2012.
