Research
Research is very important to Gaelic, and as well as supporting research, Bòrd na Gàidhlig makes use of much research which others have undertaken.
The research shows the situation of Gaelic and what should be done to benefit that situation, and it demonstrates the worth of the language. It is vital that research is carried out through the medium of Gaelic and not just about Gaelic.
Research on other minority languages is important to the work of Bòrd na Gàidhlig and the Bòrd is involved from time to time in research projects in partnership with language organisations from other countries.
In addition to individuals, there are research organisations and annual conferences like Rannsachadh na Gàidhlig. The colleges and universities promote research on many subjects in relation to Gaelic, and the Gaelic organisations themselves give much support to useful studies.
The Bòrd is currently inviting tenders for an Assessment of the Opportunities for the Gaelic Versioning of Electronic Games. The closing date is 31 August 2010. The invitation to tender is available to the right on the download bar. For further information, please contact the Bòrd's Research and Corpus Planning Manager, Peadar Morgan.
The following research commissions are currently being conducted for Bòrd na Gàidhlig. Published reports of completed research are availble in the download bar on the right.
